New Program Challenges Illinois to Buy Local Products

$10 per week of your grocery could help generate billions of dollars in the state per year.
ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Agriculture wants you to help stimulate the state's economy.

The department began its “Buy Illinois” Challenge.

It challenges your household to simply spend $10 per week on locally-grown products.

With that money spent, nearly $2.5 billion would be reinvested into Illinois' economy per year.

Despite a few showers Wednesday morning, the Metro Centre of Peoria Farmers Market still drew in a crowd this morning.

Shoppers say they definitely support this program, and accept the challenge.
