No Official Withdrawal from School Board Candidate

No Official Withdrawal from School Board Candidate

"Unless she withdraws from us we're going to treat her as a candidate."
PEORIA - One of the candidates for the District 150, Third District school board seat announced she is dropping out of the race, but as of Monday had not officially filed the paperwork with the Peoria Election Commission.

Sue Wolstenholm announced that she was dropping out of the race for what she says are personal reasons.  She was the only person running against incumbent Laura Petelle. It's too late for the election commission to take her name off the ballot or for someone to run as a "write in" candidate.

If Wolstenholm officially drops out, the commission just won't count her votes, but if she doesn't file her paperwork, she could still win.

"At that point it becomes an issue for the board to deal with at that point if she would, if she quits the board I guess. Unless she withdraws from us we're going to treat her as a candidate," said Thomas Bride, Executive Director of the Peoria Board of Election Commissioners.

WMBD 31 reached called Wolstenholm to ask if she plans to officially withdraw, but got no response as of Monday night.

The election is on March 18th.
