State Police crack down on impaired drivers in Normal over the holiday weekend
NORMAL - Alcohol is reportedly responsible for over 40% of fatal crashes in Illinois.
State police are now releasing the latest figures from their Fourth of July Roadside Safety Check.
Police were cracking down on impaired drivers on Main Street and Orlando Avenue in Normal on Independence Day
During the evening hours, 2 people were arrested for DUI's, 4 were arrested for illegal consumption and 9 others for alcohol or drug related infractions.
Police also issued 5 citations for seat belt violations.
The roadside safety check was provided through a federal grant.
