Operation Christmas Child Packs Up

The world’s largest Christmas project is underway and children in Illinois are taking action for kids across the globe
PEORIA - The world’s largest Christmas project is underway and children in Illinois are taking action for kids across the globe. Operation
Christmas Child delivers presents to all corners of the world. The project is through Samaritan’s Purse which encourages families, churches, and
organizations to fill empty shoe boxes with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items. Gifts are collected from all 50 states and local organizers say Peoria always pitches in.

Jeanne Barclay says, “Central Illinois is very generous with their shoebox gifts. This collection center will process almost 50,000 shoebox gifts from central Illinois alone.”

Seven millions shoe boxes will be collected from across the U.S. Boxes given from central Illinois will go to India, Madagascar, and Zambia.
