Operation Photo Rescue to Help Disaster Victims

What you need to know
TAZEWELL COUNTY – The libraries in Washington and East Peoria are partnering with a group called “Operation Photo Rescue” to help disaster victims save their most precious memories.

Operation Photo Rescue is a non-profit organization that restores damaged photos. The libraries will digitize as many photos as residents want, then they will send up to 20 to be restored.

"We would really like to help preserve that, make sure it doesn't further decay. Give it to them in a digital format that's easy for them to take from place to place and if they unfortunately need to part with the physical item they will still have an image of it,” said Genna Buhr from the Fondulac District Library.

People can go to the Washington District Library on February 21st and 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the Fondulac District Library on February 28th and March 1st at the same times to participate.
