A Pekin man, charged with beating a small child over a year ago, was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in prison and must serve 85 percent of the sentence. 20 year old Austin Lovel was found guilty of aggravated battery to a child, causing great bodily harm. Police say Lovel is accused of severely beating an 18 month old while the mother was at work. Police say the child's skull was fractured and she suffered brain bleeding, along with abdominal trauma.
