WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEKIN, Ill. - They played soccer, football, floor hockey, even went to state in tennis.
But those sports can't give Bryten and Brandon Brill the rush of racing dirt bikes.
"Seeing how fast these guys are and what they do on bikes is inspiring," said Bryten Brill. "When you watch these guys and it pumps you up."
The twin brothers from Pekin are ready to embark on professional racing careers.
"I would rather do this than go out on Friday and Saturday night and drink," said Branden Brill. This feels like a drug to me, it's my release to the world."
The 22-year-old brothers started riding when they were three, started racing when they were four. At the end of the month, they begin they're professional racing careers on the Lucas Oil Pro National circuit together.
"We're very competitive with each other," said Bryten Brill. "Usually every other year one will be faster than the other. We both work hard and make sure we're pushing each other. If I didn't have him, I couldn't do this."
Their father raced dirt bikes for three decades, so the Brills have been around the sport all their lives. And they might have turned professional a year ago, had Branden not run into a series of injuries.
"But I wouldn't change (the timing) for anything," explained Branden Brill. "Even when I broke my back and shoulder, I instantly asked my dad, 'When do you think I'll be able to ride?'"
Now the question isn't when will the Brills ride, it's when will the Brills win?
Gold's Gym Express in Pekin, one of the Brills' sponsors, will hold a meet-and-greet for the riders on July 26. Fans can buy t-shirts to support the twins at Void-clothing.com.
