Average retail gas prices in Peoria have risen .4 cents per gallon in the past week, according to a release Monday from GasBuddy.com. Prices were 5.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago but 26.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan says refineries are in the middle of one of their two major yearly maintenance seasons, which means as refineries wrap up their work in April, we could see restarting issues which could cause a spike in gas prices.
