Average retail gas prices in Peoria have risen 2.5 cents per gallon in the past week, according to data released Monday by GasBuddy.com. Prices were 7.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago and 4.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan says national prices have hit their lowest level since February. He says the summer driving season is coming to a close and the switch back to cheaper winter gasoline should put a downward pressure on prices in mid September. He predicts some cities may see prices under three dollars a gallon.
