Peorian Sentenced for 2013 Homicide

One of two Peoria brothers, charged in connection with a year old homicide, was sentenced Thursday to a total of 51 years in prison. 23 year old Marquis Costic was convicted of murder, aggravated battery and mob action in connection with the slaying of Treyshawn Blakely and wounding of Gerald Embrey near Warren and Butler Streets last spring. Costic, who police believe is a member of the Zone Four street gang, must serve at least 48 years of his sentence. Marquis' brother, Michael is awaiting trial for the same crime.
