Pitbulls involved in recent attack are put down

All three dogs involved in the attack of Kara Hartrich have been euthanized.
BLOOMINGTON- The dogs involved in an attack of a young Bloomington girl have been put down.

The decision was made out of concern for public safety.

Four year old Kara Hartrich died on January seventeenth from multiple dog bites.

As a result of the attack, all three pitbulls involved were put on a ten day quarantine which expired earlier this week.

The owners of the dogs decided to voluntarily give up ownership of the dogs to the Mclean County Animal Control.

Since the dogs could not be put up for adoption, all three were humanely euthanized by lethal injection on Wednesday.

The Mclean County Health Department says it was done as a precaution to help ensure resident safety.
