UPDATE: Public Defender Leaves McLean County

Kim Campbell had been with the county since 2010.
BLOOMINGTON - McLean County is now searching for a new defense attorney for citizens who cannot afford one themselves.

We're learning new information Tuesday about the public defenders resignation from McLean County on Friday.

County officials say Kim Campbell came to the courthouse and gave Judge Elizabeth Robb a letter, saying she was resigning effective that afternoon.

In the meantime former Peoria County interim public defender Jeff Flanagan will be serving in that same capacity for McLean. An executive panel of judges will work to find a full- time replacement. They hope to have that done within 60 days.

Campbell had been with the county since 2010.
