<strong><span style="font-size: small;">Meteorologist</span></strong><br /><em>WMBD 31 News Weekend Edition <br /></em><span style="font-weight: bold;">General Assignment Reporter</span><br /><a href="mailto:rkaye@wmbd.com" title="Click here to email Rachael.">rkaye@wmbd.com</a>
Rachael is thrilled to be at WMBD31 in central Illinois. Originally from Pennsylvania, she spent time visiting family in Illinois throughout high school. With a bachelor's degree in Geography from the University of Maryland and a master's degree in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State's on campus program, she is happy to be back north where she can forecast for all four seasons.

As a meteorologist, Rachael has done work with various National Weather Service offices, including launching weather balloons for the National Weather Service in Memphis to collect data ahead of potentially severe weather. Rachael is also an experienced storm chaser, having chased storms across the South and Midwest. She saw her first tornado in Texas just a week before arriving in Peoria.... although she encourages viewers to stay safe and take cover during severe weather!

Rachael has articles published in the National Weather Association's "Journal of Operational Meteorology" and the "Journal of Geography and Natural Disasters."

When she is not forecasting the weather, Rachael enjoys writing, drawing, and spending time outside. She loves to walk her dog, and can also occasionally be seen shooting archery with her bow and arrow.
