WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. -- The Rivermen franchise is likely leaving Peoria at the end of the hockey season.
The players would like to extend the season as long as they can but time is running out. The team has to all but win its final six games to have any shot of reaching the American Hockey League postseason.
"There's always been injuries, call-ups, something's always happened to make us miss the playoffs," said Adam Cracknell, who's only played in one playoff series in his four years in Peoria. "I remember my second year here, we made the playoffs, it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we were swept by Houston. The playoffs are an exciting time. that's what we want to do is make the playoffs and make a good run for it."
The Rivermen, who were sold by the St. Louis Blues to the Vancouver Canucks earlier this month, host Rockford Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
