Salvation Army Fan Collection Running Low

BLOOMINGTON - Scorching heat is putting extra pressure on the Salvation Army.
BLOOMINGTON - Scorching heat is putting extra pressure on the Salvation Army.

It's giving away fans to people in need but so far, donations are running low.

Dozens came out for its annual drive, which began last week.

At the Community Corps Center on Washington Street, staff gave away nearly 150 box fans.

Now their supply is dwindling, and development director Aly Wrezinski say collections are down.

As temperatures continue to soar, staff fear they won't be able to keep up with the growing demand.

"We haven't gotten in the donations that we think we're going to need.  So far we've had to purchase about 200 fans," said Wrezinski.  "Since we passed out 144 last week, we're getting a little nervous about running out."

The fan drive lasts till August.

If you'd like to help the cause, The Salvation Army is accepting donations at its Corps Community Center:
