The search for a missing Bernadotte man is called off for the day.
What began as a search and rescue is now a recovery effort.
Emergency crews received the call around 7:20 Monday night.
Reports indicated a 66-year-old man was taking a boat to his home which had been surrounded by water.
While he was on his way, the boat capsized.
Neighbors tried to rescue the man while waiting for emergency crews to arrive, but were unsuccessful.
Crews searched the area where the man was last seen last night and until around noon this afternoon.
Crews are delaying the search due to the large amount of ice in the river.
"With the ice, cold temperature very difficult. There's not a whole lot of open water in the area where the victim was and a lot of difficult stuff to deal with,” said Chris Schisler, Ipava Fire Department Chief.
Crews hope to continue search efforts tomorrow when the ice has moved downstream.
