Section of I-74 Named After Ray LaHood

Former United States Secretary of Transportation honored in Peoria.
PEORIA - A former Illinois congressman is being honored for his work on I-74

Today a section of interstate 74 running through Peoria was named in honor of Ray LaHood.

The former United States Secretary of Transportation and United States Congressman were joined by state and local officials for the naming ceremony.

LaHood oversaw maintenance of I-74.

He calls it one of the safest roads in America.

Signs with the highway’s new name will be posted on the Eastbound lanes before the Sterling Avenue exit and the Westbound lanes before the Murray Baker bridge.
