Shockers Improve to 30-0 with Win at Bradley

Wichita State beats Braves, 69-49

WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. - Wichita State made five 3-pointers in its first six field goal attempts of the second half and the second-ranked Shockers rode the hot second-half start to a historical, 69-49 win over Bradley in Missouri Valley Conference play Tuesday night at Carver Arena.

Wichita State (30-0, 17-0 in MVC) becomes the first-ever men's basketball team to start 30-0 in the regular season and the Shockers moved to within one game of dethroning Bradley's 1985-86 team (16-0) as the last undefeated Missouri Valley Conference regular-season champion.

Fred Van Vleet finished 3-for-3 from behind the arc and the Wichita State point guard started the long-range assault by draining two in a row to turn a 35-27 lead into a 41-27 bulge with 17:20 remaining.  He finished as Wichita State's fourth double-digit scorer with 11 points.

Ron Baker led the Shockers with 15 points, while Tekele Cotton added 13 and Cleanthony Early 12. Bradley (12-18, 7-10 in MVC) was led in scoring by Walt Lemon, Jr.'s 18 points.
