South Pekin Man Pleads NOT GUILTY in Drug Case

A South Pekin man, indicted in McLean County on drug charges, pleaded NOT GUILTY Friday. 51 year old Donald Gene Cooper, who was pulled over on a traffic stop, is now facing unlawful possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of marijuana. Police say Cooper was stopped for traffic violations on Route 9 and found he was wanted on a drug warrant out of Colorado, according to a police release. Police say they also found a quarter pound of pot in his car. A further search of Cooper's home, police say, revealed an indoor marijuana grow operation. Cooper will be back in court October 26th.
