Peoria Police are investigating a scam involving Southside Bank.
The bank has received thousands of calls from people who say they've received text messages from the bank regarding the deactivation of their accounts.
Many of the recipients don't bank with Southside.
Police say you should never give out any personal information if you receive a text, phone call, or email about your bank account, debit, or credit card.
Banks and credit card issuers don't normally solicit you for personal information.
Police also want to remind everyone that the holidays are a prime time for scams.
