Storms Moving In This Evening

A strong cold front pushing through will spark showers and storms across central Illinois Monday evening.
A hot and humid start to the work week.  A cold front just to our west has sparked a line of storms through Iowa and Missouri.  This line will move into central Illinois early Monday evening, with the potential for a few storms to turn severe.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for northern and western counties of our viewing area until 8pm.

Showers and storms will move through the area between 6-7pm along the Illinois River, and around 9-10pm along the I-55 corridor.  Main concern will be damaging wind and hail potential with storms that develop this evening.  With the loss of daytime heating after sunset, storms should start to weaken just a bit.  The strongest of the storms should roll out of the area by late evening.  Light to moderate showers will linger through early overnight.
