The Illini Men's Basketball Team Could Be Playing in Peoria

Carver Arena might be their temporary home in November.
The University of Illinois Men’s basketball team could find a home away from home in Peoria.

The Illini’s home, the State Farm Center, will be under renovations come fall.

So the team may play four regular season games, and one exhibition game elsewhere in November.

Carver Arena is one option the team is looking in to.

Their schedule doesn’t conflict with Bradley’s, giving them the chance to play in Peoria.

“Having the University of Illinois play here would be special. There's a lot of Illini fans in Peoria,” said Jim Wetherington,” General Manger of the Peoria Civic Center.

The Civic Center is still working with the University to hammer out the details if the Illini were to come to Peoria. The University of Illinois originally contact the Civic Center a few months ago with interest in playing at Carver Arena.
