Three Peoria men, arrested in connection with the city's first homicide of the year, were indicted Tuesday by the grand jury. 21 year old Duane Simmons, who participated in the city's last Don't Shoot call in, and Orlando Mathews are each charged with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. A third suspect, Denzell Gayton is only charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. The three were charged after the shooting death of 30 year old Justin Thompson outside of Landmark Apartments. Police arrested the trio at a nearby apartment where they say they also found marijuana and guns. Police say Simmons and Gayton are members of the Zone Four street gang. All three are due in court Thursday.
