A Twin City high school received a big check today.
Midwest technical institute presented Normal Community West High School with a $10,000 grant.
High schools at each of MTI’s seven campuses in the Midwest were nominated by their communities.
The top 25 nominated schools then made a video explaining how they would benefit from the grant and why they deserved it.
The videos were voted on the M-T-I Facebook page.
Normal Community West received the most votes for the East Peoria campus.
“The equipment needs that they may have, that ten thousand dollars will go a long way. It would definitely help their welding program. The money can be used however the school chooses," said Brian Huff, of Midwest Technical Institute.
"The kids need this. The kids need updated technology to prepare them for a career. And one of the biggest careers out there is welding. And I have a lot of students that move on to do that," said John Mackinson, a Normal Community West technology teacher.
