A fifth grader at Lincoln School in Peoria has been pronounced brain dead after being struck by a pick-up truck Monday morning. Eleven year old Trever B. Chick was hit on NE Monroe between Mary and Caroline street. Police say the boy ran out between a bus and a car, and was then hit by the pick-up truck. CPR was performed at the scene before the boy was taken to Children's Hospital of Illinois.  He was pronounced brain dead at OSF St. Francis at 9:00 p.m. on Monday. He is being maintained on life support to pursue organ donation. An autopsy will follow. The accident remains under investigation.

A 10 year old girl was also taken to Children's Hospital of Illinois after being hit mid afternoon Monday by a car at the intersection of 14th and Koch Streets in Pekin. Police say the girl was waiting to cross 14th when a driver waved her across. A car traveling northbound next to them then struck the girl as she crossed. Police say she was thrown 40 feet into the air and landed in a nearby yard. She was conscious and being evaluated late Monday according to hospital officials.
