UnityPoint Health-Methodist Gets a Makeover

A $10 million project is in store for the hospital.
PEORIA - Unity-Point Health - Methodist is getting a $10 million makeover. The hospital is replacing its exterior "skin" facing Interstate 74. It will match the rest of the building that was upgraded a few years ago facing Hamiliton Boulevard.

Parts of the building are more than 100 years old, and the goal is to make it look like one cohesive structure.

Two-hundred parking spots are being added where the former parking deck used to be. The new parking lot will be right outside the new outpatient surgery entrance.

"I think the biggest thing is the entrance and the ease of accessibility for our patients because it will make it a lot easier for them to come in and get the services that they need and get right back out. It'll be very convenient,” Vance Vinson, the hospital’s facility director, said.

Construction will get started as early as this weekend, and the hospital hopes to have everything completed by July of next year.
