UPDATE: 2 Washington Fire Board Members Have Quit

The resignations of Bob Linsley and Bill Hartter happened before the emotional meeting Tuesday night.

We have new information regarding the situation to not renew the contract of Washington's Fire Chief.
WMBD 31 has learned that two of the five Fire Department Board members resigned Tuesday.
Bob Linsley and Bill Hartter resigned before Tuesday night's meeting.
The resignations come after the board decided at June's meeting to not renew the contract of Chief Mike Vaughn.
Two of the three remaining members were ready to vote Tuesday night and make the no contract renewal official.
It was an emotional meeting with more than 100 supporters showing up and the third member refused to vote and left the meeting.
Without any official vote not to renew Vaughn's contract, it can automatically renew when it is up July 31st.
The only way for it not to renew is if the three remaining members to hold a special meeting and vote not to renew the chief's contract.
