PEORIA - Local soccer fans were bleeding red, white, and blue for the U.S. opener in the World Cup.
Many of them packed the Fox Pub and Cafe for Monday’s match against Ghana. Matt Rixner, the pub owner, says that U.S. and England matches usually draw the most people.
With soccer becoming more popular in the states, many fans say that this is the most support the team has ever received.
Us soccer fan Jeremy Carlson said, "Everybody stood up, got quiet for the national anthem, put their hands over their heart.  Everybody chanted "USA" chants from the get-go.  This is great.  I love it."
Rixner added, "It is always a win when they're in the world cup as a business owner, same for England, but it will be that much better if we can advance, even in to the knockout stage."
