Washington Park Receives New Trees

WASHINGTON - November's tornado took out around 150 mature trees int he park.
WASHINGTON - A park in Washington is trying to recover after November's tornado took out around one hundred and fifty mature trees.

Park districts around the state have pitched in to help the community put in new ones.

They planted 600 saplings in Meadow Valley Park Saturday.

Washington residents say they hope these new trees will one day restore the landscape of the park.

"The evidence of the saplings that are planted is, indeed, making you feel like we are heading in the right direction," said Dennis Hermann, who helped with the planting.

Palatine Park Foundation organized the tree donation.
