Wesleyan clinches Final Four berth

The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team will extend its season to the NCAA Division III Championship Final Four after defeating Dickinson College, 79-66, in the sectional final Saturday, March 15 evening at the Shirk Center.
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team will extend its season to the NCAA Division III Championship Final Four after defeating Dickinson College, 79-66, in the sectional final Saturday, March 15 evening at the Shirk Center.
 
IWU will move travel to Salem, Va., Friday, March 21 for the semifinal round against Wis.-Whitewater (26-4) at 5 p.m. This will be the sixth Titan semifinal appearance.
 
Early in the first period and over a seven-minute span, the Titans went on a 16-0 run to jump ahead, 22-7. Although the Red Devils started a comeback before the halftime break, IWU held onto the lead, 37-32.
 
In the second half, the Titans dashed any chance of Dickinson stealing the lead, outscoring the Red Devils, 42-34 in the final period and leading by as much as 19 points with 1:25 on the clock.
 
IWU forced 14 turnovers and outrebounded Dickinson, 43-26.
