WMBD/WYZZ-TV - NORMAL, Ill - Normal West's soccer team brought home a second-place state trophy Saturday.
It's the best finish for any sport in the history of the school. But the Wildcats are already thinking about next year.
"Our seniors definitely helped us a lot," said junior midfielder Carolyn Peters. "They have great leadership. They're leaving us off in a great place for next year, definitely."
Seniors Tess Marcordes and Rachel Sherman graduate but everyone else on the 27-2 team returns.
"This is a team that will be hard to replace. But with new people coming in, I feel like we're going to have a good chance to come back next year," said high scoring junior Keely Theobald. "So you'll see us here. We will be back next year. This is our new motivation fot the upcoming season. We're already talking about next season, where we want to be."
