WIC can now say it’s been helping low income families for 40 years.
It aims to improve the health of women, infants, and children by providing food, nutrition education, and counseling.
WIC has successfully reduced the number of fetal deaths, and raised low infant mortality.
The Woodford County Health Department is looking to take on more cases for WIC.
“In Woodford County, it's about between 375 and 400 which is not exactly where the state would like us to be. Our case load should be higher than that,” said Lynda McKeown
The Woodford County Health Department offers WIC services by appointment.
