Winter Storm Moves In This Weekend

Winter Storm Watch in effect for most of central Illinois Friday through Saturday evening.
PEORIA  - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect for much of central Illinois beginning Friday evening.

Periods of light snow during the day on Friday will account for about an inch of accumulation around central Illinois.  More significant snow, along with some mixing of freezing rain and sleet southeast of Peoria will move into the area late Friday night into Saturday.

Accumulations of 5-7" total are possible along the Illinois River through Saturday afternoon.  Areas along and east of Interstate 55 have the potential of seeing a mixture of snow/sleet/ice through the period, which could bring snow totals down to the 3-5"

Snow will move out of the area by mid afternoon Saturday.

The Watch expires at 6pm Saturday.
