Winter Storm Warning In Effect; Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain Expected

Winter Storm Warning from 9pm Friday through 6pm Saturday
PEORIA - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of central Illinois beginning Friday night.

Heavy snow is expected to move into the area after midnight, and continue through early Saturday morning.

Snow amounts will vary because of the changeover in precipitation.  5-7" is expected along and west of the Illinois River, with 3-5" of snow expected to the east.  



Snow will mix with freezing rain and sleet at times during the overnight hours, especially along and east of the Illinois River.  The highest amounts of ice are forecasted to be along the Interstate 55 corridor, where some areas could see up to 0.25" of ice.



The heaviest precipitation will wrap up across the area by midday.  Snow will completely move out by late afternoon.
