WIU Hires Former BU Star Billy Wright

Wright to be named head basketball coach Tuesday

WMBD/WYZZ-TV - MACOMB, Ill - The new coach at Western Illinois is a familiar face in Macomb and Peoria.

Billy Wright, the former Bradley star point guard and WIU assistant coach, has been named head coach at WIU. He will be introduced at a 2 p.m. news conference Tuesday.

Wright succeeds Jim Molinari, who resigned last week to join the staff at the University of Nebraska Wright, who played for Molinari at Bradley from 1992-96, was an assistant for five years at WIU before leaving to join the Ball State staff last year.

It will be Wright's first head coaching job.
