WMBD/WYZZ-TV - MACKINAW, Ill. - With five of six starters returning from a state championship team, things are looking up for the Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School volleyball team.
"We still talk about last season. Last night, I was watching videos from last year," said junior Lauren Anderson. "It's always going to be in our mind that we can do it again."
Anderson, who just verbally committed to Lipscomb, is a returning All-State player for the Chiefs, who went 38-1 and captured the Class 2A state title last November.
"I'm so excited," said senior Jessey lee as practice started Wednesday. "It's still like a dream that we won state. To do it again my senior year -- that would be fantastic."
The Chiefs have a new coach in Brandon Mueller this year.
