EAST PEORIA - A new business is looking to revitalize whiskey in central Illinois.
Dozens of people turned out for free tours and samples during the ribbon cutting ceremony of J.K. Williams Distilling on Friday.
The small batch whiskey distiller is located in 500 block of High Point Lane in East Peoria. It will offer corn whiskey, spirits and bourbon along with tours.
Recipes for the family owned company date back to Peoria’s golden age of whiskey making.
"We are thrilled to share an original recipe that's 5 generations old,” said president Jon Williams. “It's my great great grandfather's recipe and we're thrilled to bring back that true quality of spirit to the community.”
Tours and tastings are available Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sundays starting at noon.
