PEORIA - We’re learning more about a new program aimed to keep kids away from crime.

It’s coming to two District 150 schools next month.

Carl Cannon and city leaders presented the "Don't Start" campaign to the District 150 Monday night.

It is an addition to the city's "Don't Shoot" campaign, and is directed toward children and crime prevention.

The program will offer activities to children after school.

Although this is a new initiative, school principals believe this is what students need to keep them out of trouble.

“It is my hope that, with all of the support here and the support of the great school board that we will save the lives of not just my babies, my students at Trewyn, but students across the district,” says Trewyn Middle School Principal Renee Andrews.

The program will start at Trewyn and Harrison Schools in February.
