East Peoria Lights Wreaths for Tornado Relief

The city has established a fund for tornado victims.
EAST PEORIA – East Peoria is drumming up a campaign to help tornado victims in the month of December.

People wishing to help the East Peoria families affected by the Nov. 17 tornado can help ‘Light a Wreath for Tornado Relief.’ The East Peoria Chamber of Commerce and City of East Peoria are partnering to set up relief. During the ‘Light a Wreath for Tornado Relief’ campaign, four wreaths on the lawn at East Peoria City Hall will be lit for each week in December to increase awareness of the fund.

Those donating to the fund should make checks payable to the City of East Peoria and on the memo line write “City of East Peoria Tornado Relief Fund”.  Donations can be made in person or mailed to:

Morton Community Bank

Attn. City of East Peoria Tornado Relief Fund

201 Clock Tower Drive, East Peoria 61611.

A five-person advisory board will oversee distribution of the funds based on need. Donations are tax-deductible and 100 percent of the money collected will go directly to East Peoria families.
