PEORIA - The students at Limestone Walters Elementary School are rebuilding hope for a local teacher who lost their home in the Washington Tornado.

PEORIA - The students at Limestone Walters Elementary School are rebuilding hope for a local teacher who lost their home in the Washington Tornado.

However this educator doesn’t know it yet.

The student council came up with the idea to design and sell t-shirts to raise money.

They’ve sold 200 shirts at five dollars each.

In total, they’ve raised $1,000 so far.

"We wanted there to be a name with the money.  We wanted it to stay local. Although the Red Cross is an amazing organization, we wanted to know that it stayed local,” said Miranda Ligenfelter, a teacher at Limestone Walters.

They plan to surprise the teacher with the money next week.
