Eureka High School In Top Three For National Campaign

EUREKA - The community of Eureka has come together and is currently in the top spots for a national driving campaign.
Eureka High School, for recent weeks, has been participating in a national campaign sponsored by State Farm and singer, songwriter Kelly Clarkson.

It's called "Celebrate My Drive" which challenges teens to be more aware of their surrounding while behind the wheel.

"It's been a lot of fun pushing the issue of safety with my fellow classmates", says Maddie Plattner, a junior at EHS.
She says a few years ago a dear friend was lost to distractive driving and a campaign like this really hits home.

Along side her is support from the local community and her local peers at school, all pushing toward the same goal, driver safety awareness.

The "Celebrate My Drive" is asking for teens to take a pledge online to be more aware while driving.
As of Monday morning there were more than six million pledges nationwide.

As part of the campaign those schools with the most pledges will receive $25,000 up to $100,000 for their efforts.

Currently Eureka High School is in second place.
Pledging for the campaign is now over but a winner will be announced on December 9th.
