Families Get Active at Kellar Colts Run

PEORIA - Families at Kellar Primary School spent Saturday morning soaking up some of the last warmth of the summer as they came out to get involved and get active.

Kids raced over hurdles and carried eggs, sprinting through obstacles at the Kellar Colt's Run. The event is part of the schools overall mission to get families together doing physical activity. It’s the second year for the Colt's Run and organizers say attendance is up.  Of course one of the draws is the finish line mud pit made by Peoria's own fire department.

"Parental involvement is not just something that happens at school, we want to make sure that even after , for extracurricular activities that we're promoting that so we're doing a two hour challenge for the year so we're asking parents to just get involved and help out and the kids love it," said organizer Heidi Bauer.

Each family paid a small entrance fee to participate. Kellar School is donating all of that money to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
