COOK COUNTY - The Illinois Retired Teachers Association files the first lawsuit against Illinois’ Pension Reform Law today.
A group of educators is challenging the constitutionality of the state’s new pension plan.
The suit was filed in Cook County.
That’s according to the Chicago Tribune.
The new pension plan passed earlier this month and is set to go into effect in June.
They claim the state cutting pension benefits violates the Constitution.
Governor Quinn has said he believes the new is constitutionally sound.
