Former East Peoria Coach Released from Jail
A former East Peoria football coach, accused of stealing thousands of dollars in school funds, was released Friday from the Tazewell County Jail on a notice to appear in court November 26th. Doug Martin was arrested in Springfield and booked into the jail Thursday on felony theft, accused of misappropriating more than 33 thousand dollars from the school. Martin is a former teacher and football coach at East Peoria High School. The school accuses Martin of misappropriating money from community donations, fund raisers and school organized football camps spanning several years. Officials say an audit revealed alleged discrepancies in the football budget.
