Former East Peoria Football Coach Arrested for Stealing Money from School

A former East Peoria Football coach is behind bars for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in school funds.
EAST PEORIA - A former East Peoria Football coach is behind bars for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in school funds.

Doug Martin is in Tazewell County Jail booked on felony theft after a six month investigation.

He is accused of misappropriating more than $33,000 dollars from the school.


Martin is a former teacher and head football coach at East Peoria High.

He was dismissed from the school in April after an audit revealed  alleged discrepancies in the football budget.

The school accuses Martin of misappropriating money from community donations, fundraisers and school organized football camps spanning over the last several years.

He served as head coach for seven years.
