Free haircuts, pampering for tornado victims

A way to take care of them after food and clothes
EAST PEORIA - Christmas is right around the corner, but for people who lost their homes in the November tornadoes, holiday giving came in a different package on Sunday.

More than 45 hair stylists from all over the area gathered to offer up free haircuts. People streamed into East Peoria’s Oehrlein School of Cosmetology for free washes, trims and styling. There were even massage therapists on hand for a little back rub. Organizers said it's about much more than a new do.

“It's a little soothing and a little time to relax and take care of themselves because we all know that most women take care of everybody else first. So now we are trying to give it back and we bring the men along too just in case,” said Sandy Gay, who owns Oehrlein’s.

Kids were invited along too because in another room Santa was waiting to deliver toys.
