Free Toy Shop for Tornado Victims

Two organizations team up to give toys to tornado victims.

WASHINGTON - Crossroads United Methodist Church and Threads, Hope, and Love team up to bring Christmas cheer to victims of last month’s tornadoes.
The organizations received $20,000 from the “Rock to the Rescue” concert, and $13,000 from other fundraising.
Thanks to that money, they’re able to give free toys to families from Washington, East Peoria, and Pekin.
More than 350 families benefitted from the shop.
Staff Sergeant Jerome Clarke says, “With the amount of toys, board games, and stuffed animals we brought in, we figured a board game per kid, a stuffed animal per kid, and anywhere from four to five toys per child.”
The toy shop was open until 7 Wednesday night.
