PEORIA - The Affordable Care Act is in its second week.
But signing up for insurance hit a few snags because of the volume of people on the federal website.
The Illinois insurance marketplace "Get Covered Illinois" says they're aiming to help people figure it out.
They've seen a spike in traffic on their website.
But say it's a marathon, not a sprint to sign up for insurance.
They say some of the first to sign up are people who have been denied coverage for years.
"We're seeing patience and understanding that is a new program," says Brian Gorman with "Get Covered Illinois." People have a lot of time to make decisions for plans to start January one. They could start signing up October 1st, plans start January 1st.
"Get Covered Illinois has an option for consumers to get help in-person.
There's also a list of community organizations to help people sign up.
