Governor Quinn Joins "Help on the Homefront"

PEORIA - Governor Pat Quinn attends WMBD's "Help on the Homefront" telethon.
PEORIA - Governor Pat Quinn was in the River City for tonight’s Help on the Homefront telethon.

He says, right now, the state is working on a federal disaster declaration for the counties affected in Sunday’s storms.

148,000 homes in Illinois have been permanently destructed or demolished.

17 counties have been declared state disaster areas.

Quinn says the state is submitting the application to the federal government.

“You’ve gotta gather all of this information, we’ve done it very quickly. We want to keep doing it. Even this day we have learned of more instances state-wide of damage,” says Quinn.

President Barack Obama called both Governor Quinn and Washington Mayor Gary Manier this week.

They talked about the steps to take to get federal disaster aid.
