Employees at a manufacturing plant in Henry County will be out of work in about a year. According to WGIL Radio, officials with BOMAG, an international manufacturer similar to Caterpillar, say they will CLOSE their plant in Kewanee by the end of 2014. The plant makes asphalt rollers and other similar items, and that work will be relocated or replaced with similar producted manufactured at other facilities in Oklahoma, Germany or China. Sources tell WGIL as many as 180 people work at the plant on Kewanee's east side. This announcement comes three years after the state gave BOMAG incentives to consolidate its Illinois and Missouri operations into the Kewanee plant.
